Tips for Dealing with Sleeping Problems.
We’ve all had periods in our lives when we had trouble sleeping, usually because we had a serious problem or were suffering from stress that prevented us from getting enough sleep. However, when your sleeping problems becomes chronic, then it could represent a serious hea
lth condition.
You may have a serious sleep disorder if you have trouble staying awake when reading or watching TV, have trouble concentrating, react slowly, have difficulty controlling your emotions, feel sleepy or irritable during the day or constantly feel that you have to take a nap. If you believe you have a sleeping problems, here are some tips on how you can overcome it to get a good night’s sleep.
1. Make your bedroom sleep-friendly. Try to make it as dark as possible using curtains to avoid confusing your body clock. The room should also be comfortably cool and have adequate ventilation.
2. Make sure your bed is comfortable. There should be enough room in it for you to turn and stretch comfortably. Your mattress should also provide your back with sufficient support, otherwise you may wake up with a sore back or aching neck.
3. Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine at night. Caffeine can keep you awake for as long as twelve hours since you’ve had that cup of coffee. And while alcohol may cause you to fall asleep more easily, it can affect the quality of your sleep, causing you to wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to fall asleep again.
4. Don’t smoke since nicotine is a stimulant that can keep you awake. In addition, you may suffer nicotine cravings which will cause you to get up in the middle of the night to get a cigarette.
5. Avoid eating heavy meals at night since they take a long time to digest, and don’t eat rich, heavy foods for at least two hours before your bedtime.
